Ashley C. Chan hails from the southwest side of Chicago. Having grown up working for her grandmother, Sue Chan, a goldsmith and jewelry designer in Chinatown, Ashley developed a fervency for the industry early on.
As a student at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, Ashley was introduced to Art History, a subject in which would ultimately inspire her as a student at the University of Notre Dame and as an entrepreneur. Upon conferral of her degree, Ashley completed the Graduate Gemologist Program at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, California as well as obtained a certificate in Jewelry Design at the Gemological Institute of America in New York City.
Throughout the course of her education and career, Ashley began to design and create several pieces inspired by art history, spirituality and her travels. These pieces would ultimately become the foundation of Lei Lee Jewels.
In 2011, Ashley received the Rising Star Award from the Women’s Jewelry Association Chicago Chapter and in the Fall of 2015, Lei Lee Jewels debuted at Marshall Pierce & Company.
